about
“Liberate”, the new single from the indie-rockers Izzy and The Black Trees announces their second album which is due to be released this fall. After their debut “Trust No One” (Antena Krzyku 2020) and the indie hit song “The Station” (2021) the band is consistently following a path full of fuzzed-up guitars, punk and noise rock. This time they have invited one of the best Polish producers Marcin Bors to collaborate on their next release.
“Liberate” depicts a warrior female character who has been fighting for her rights for many centuries, fighting the same old strenuous battle. At the same time she is inspiring other women and giving hope for a better future.
The music video for ”Liberate” is created by the acclaimed director, Sebastian Juszczyk of Juzzmedia, with whom the band met while working on the video for “The Station”. The main character is portrayed by a young up-and-coming Polish actress Kamila Urzędowska who has starred in films like: “Jak zostałem gangsterem. Historia prawdziwa”, “25 lat niewinności. Sprawa Tomka Komendy” or in the TV show “Żmijowisko”.
lyrics
I see it 'round her eyes
She's charismatic, I figure
Spreading charms of a dirty democracy
You can trust her, unchained and humble
Wishes well, nothing can stop her
I am a beacon, a radiant beacon
I am the sparkle seducing tonight
I see the crowds waiting out their turn, now
I love the way they change in front of my eyes
Look now I'm covered in blisters
Fighting you for over a hundred years
My land, fetch me morphine
Pass the fire, I am self-contained
Here we are now as nothing's ever changed, yet
We try to keep up with God's Work
Evil tricksters plotting destruction
Their tiny hands reach out to the top
Why don't you liberate
Why don't you liberate
Why don't you liberate me
